Iceburgg

Iceburgg Information:

Iceburgg is a wordpress theme to give your blog a feeling of the season we all know as winter. using blues and whites, Iceburgg provides a simply, flowing blog design that spawned off the creation of the header one random day in photoshop. You see, the whole story dates back to the year 226, when a caveman was found drawing the iceburgg logo on the wall of a - whatelse - cave in Antartica. From there, Iceburgg evolved into the beautiful theme you see today, with all that new fancyness such as valid xhtml and css. That caveman would have been proud.

Getting this thing going:

If you've never installed a wordpress theme before, it's trully a revolutionary process. Simply unzip the iceburgg folder and upload it to your ".../wp-content/themes/" folder, keeping the structure in tact so it would end up looking like this: ".../wp-content/themes/iceburrg/". And that's it. No painstacking "WTF DO I DO HERE?". Next, head to your Wordpress Dashboard and click the presentation tab. You should see a sweet looking mountain logo with Iceburgg above it. Simply select it and watch as your design magically changes to the best winter theme out there.

Where Do I Go from There

If you want to be really crazy, you could always book a plane and head to Antartica in search of a piece of ice that resembles the Iceburgg logo - or you could simply dive into the theme and get customizing. The main file you'll need to make most of the edits on is the style.css. From there, you can customize almost all the elements of the day, from layout to text and font colors, line height, font family, etc. You can even drop in your own header images and stuff like that.

The theme design is contained to 3 major pages and the comments page (which of course, holds comments). The three main files you'll be dealing with are index.php (homepage), single.php (single post view), and page.php (wordpress pages template). There's nothing ground breaking about the code used in each of these pages. You'll even find that the single and page templates have 100% exactly the same code. How easy! Making edits is a very simply process that anyone with basic html skills could do. All these pages have been source formatted to make it as easy as possible to navigate through - no messy code here.

How Can I Change the About Me?

Currently, the about me section of the homepage pulls your tagline / site description from the wordpress options and outputs it into the about me section of the design. Of course, you may want to go a little more detailed than that, so how exactly do you do it? It's simple. Simply scroll down to lines 59-62 of the index.php. You'll see "< ?php bloginfo('description'); ? >" between two "< p >" tags. Removed the php tags and type whatever you want between the paragraph tags and your good. No more tagline about section, but your own customized one!

What If I want to Customize This?

We have some killer wordpress guides because we're big fans of wordpress. There's a whole slew of articles here. The wordpress codex has always been a favorite resource of mine for figuring things out.

What else do you guys make?

We make a lot of things and release them to you, the public, simply to better the internet. We have two other wordpress theme releases called Prebuilt and Wave. We also have a sick little javascript script that allows your visitors to customize their content box with called Custom Reading Width.

Where Can I get Support?

You can always visit the Iceburgg page on Devlounge, or visit our flickr page for support. We'll try to help out as much as possible when we're not too busy.

You did so good, can I send you cash?

Of course, now we're talking! If you're interested in sending us a few bucks for our hard work, send us a line through our contact page. If you don't enough, your name will be cast into a star in Hollywood (and also spread around Devlounge like adware on a nude site). Or if you don't have cash to spend, you can simply give a digg. It's just as nice.
